Dear Parents,
We have had an outstanding start in Kindergarten! Thank you all so much for coming to Open House, offering to volunteer, snacks and most of all sharing your children with us each day! We will begin our unit on community helpers this month. We will learn how different regions of our country need different types of services. We will focus on how we may be different, but are the same too!
In Math this month we will mainly focus on Patterning. Patterns are the foundation to higher-level critical thinking and mathematics. We will be using many manipulatives this month and very few work sheets. If you would like to see our work in progress, stop by any time. Math is from 10:10-10:35 each morning.
We have broken into 4 reading groups this month. The average group consists of 5 or 6 students. We feel each child is working at a comfortable yet challenging level.
In Science this month we will be studying birds. We will investigate what birds use to build a nest and where they get their materials. We will also do many egg-speriments to coincide with this unit. Our bird feeder is up--than you Mrs. Seibert for the BIG bag of bird seed.
As always if you have any questions PLEASE call me at home or stop by the class anytime. Your child’s happiness is very important to us.
Sincerely,
Pam McAvoy
